Koch Government Affairs, a subsidiary of the major energy corporation owned by Charles Koch, registered to lobby the Manitoba government to discuss the “impacts of federal/provincial taxes and regulations,” and “the role Koch Fertilizer plays in the Manitoba economy.”
The site in Brandon, Man., is the only Koch Fertilizer plant in Canada. It employs more than 250 people in Brandon, but is also the top emitter in the province. Koch Fertilizer produced more than half a million tonnes of greenhouse gases in 2023. Under federal law, it has to pay a fee to the province of Manitoba for the carbon it creates.
