Rockies LNG Partners, a group of 12 natural resource companies who say they collectively account for half of Canada’s natural gas production, registered to lobby the Alberta government about its plan to double the province's oil and gas production.
As part of the plan, the province signed a deal with Enbridge, which is not part of Rockies LNG Partners, to increase its heavy oil exports to the United States in January. On March 11, Premier Danielle Smith posted on Facebook that the province is “ready and positioned to double oil and gas production!” She said she had also “met with Trans Mountain to discuss exciting future opportunities to get more Alberta energy to global markets.”
