Millions of dollars in non-charitable spending and large transfers of funds to cover directors’ personal expenses were behind the decision to revoke the charitable status of two connected Vancouver-area Christian organizations, newly released documents reveal.

The charitable statuses of Grace Christian Chapel and the Faith & Action Mission Society, both led by Rev. Stephen Lee with the same five directors, were revoked last fall by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for serious breaches of charity law. Now, letters of revocation from the CRA have been published online by the Toronto charity law firm Blumbergs, laying out numerous allegations in more detail.
