A senior federal official met with the head of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s former company Brookfield last year to talk about Canada’s approach to artificial intelligence.
A briefing note prepared for Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada’s associate deputy minister, Francis Bilodeau, indicates he met with Brookfield chair and former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna and Brookfield infrastructure CEO Sam Pollock in 2024 to “discuss hurdles in building up digital infrastructure and explore how the Canadian government can bolster our industrial Al capabilities.”
