The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) reported six lobbying communications with federal officials in the past week, including one with Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. Kirsten Hillman to discuss the effects of U.S. tariffs on the steel industry.

The communications took place throughout May, before U.S. President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on steel and aluminum exports to 50 per cent on Wednesday, a move Mark Carney’s office called “unlawful and unjustified.”
