Toby Shannan, a current board member at the leading Canadian e-commerce company, registered to lobby in Ontario “to discuss opportunities to develop a new college at the Perth Campus of Algonquin College,” which is slated to close next year. Shannan lives in Perth, a town about 85 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
In February, Algonquin College announced it would cancel 41 programs and close its Perth campus. It cited a budget shortfall caused by federal limits on international student study permits and the Ontario government’s tuition freeze as reasons for the cancellations and campus closure.
