In February 2022, a Russian plane landed at Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson airport bearing a shipment of COVID-19 rapid test kits. 

Hours after it arrived, Ottawa closed Canadian airspace to Russian planes in response to its invasion of Ukraine, leaving the massive air carrier stranded on the tarmac.
