As Donald Trump continues to threaten tariffs and annexation, there are growing questions in Canada about how to handle government deals with one of the U.S. president’s closest confidants.

Elon Musk wasn’t just one of the biggest supporters of Trump’s campaign, contributing a reported US$288 million, but he’s also taken a powerful role in the new American government. He’s even joined Trump in his attacks on Canada’s sovereignty, saying Canada is “not a real country,” and calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “governor of Canada” in social media posts.
