Canada’s Digital Services Tax is dead, but not before the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent nearly two years lobbying federal lawmakers in its home country to help make that happen, according to U.S. federal transparency records.

The lobby group says it represents millions of businesses across the United States. It and a slew of major tech companies from Amazon to Uber have been lobbying on both sides of the border to halt the passage of the tax, which would have required massive online companies to pay Canadian taxes on the revenue they make from Canadian users.
