The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 38, which represents more than 5,000 municipal workers in Calgary, registered to lobby the Alberta government about “ensuring a transparent, stable pension system that protects the retirement security of CUPE 38 members amid growing trade concerns and market uncertainty.”

The registration comes after U.S. President Donald Trump introduced many ups and downs into the global market in his first 100 days in office. He’s announced, paused, then reinstated tariffs on Canada and other countries multiple times since his inauguration on Jan. 20.
