PowerSchool, a California-based education software company whose products are used by school boards across Canada, registered a lobbyist “to understand Ontario's procurement rules regarding cross-border corporations and is requesting clarification on upcoming school board procurements.”
On March 4, in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said no U.S. companies would be eligible for provincial government contracts worth more than $121,000 unless only American suppliers can offer the service. The policy applies to school boards, which are responsible for their own procurement processes independent of the provincial government.
