Harrison Staffing, an agency that hires temporary workers for events, is advocating “for regulations that support a flexible employment model for independent contractors in the event staffing industry, thereby preserving worker autonomy and well-being.”
The company registered ahead of the province’s Digital Platform Workers' Rights Act, coming into effect on July 1. Under the new law, digital gig-work platforms will have to provide a guaranteed minimum wage for all hours worked, transparent pay and tip information, regular pay periods and paydays and a process for resolving work-related disputes.
