The Mirabel, Que.-based company registered to lobby the federal government for contracts to sell rotary wing aircraft to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and to be part of the Department of National Defence’s (DND’s) plan to revitalize its helicopter fleet.

The registration comes after the national police force chartered two Blackhawk helicopters for border monitoring for $5.3 million in January. That spending was part of the $1.3 billion federal package to secure the border to appease U.S. President Donald Trump’s demands for tighter borders to stop the flow of illegal drugs between the countries. Though Canada is not a significant source of fentanyl entering the U.S., former prime minister Justin Trudeau agreed to up border monitoring to get relief from tariffs on Canadian goods.
