Last year, Mitchell Tremblay, a disability advocate in Guelph, Ont., needed an ambulance after experiencing uncontrollable vomiting for 24 hours. Tremblay and a friend waited several more hours before paramedics arrived.
Five years ago, Tremblay had called an ambulance in St. Catharines, Ont. for a similar experience. It arrived in only 30 minutes.
